Our Approach
We have established ourselves as a longstanding community organization in East Los Angeles with a commitment to amplifying Latina women’s voices and healing women and their families. In 28 years our work has directly impacted over 15,000 individuals through more than 150 healing wellness fairs, workshops, and conferences, arts workshops and art exhibitions, “talking circle” transformative community groups, artist performance events, artisan marketplaces, youth conferences, and legacy work such as “Mujeres de Maiz en Movimiento,” our book anthology published by University of Arizona Press, 2024.
Our success is evidenced by our many partnerships, collaborations, and mentorships. We have connected artists and creative thinkers, health professionals, and educators with over 50 community-based organizations including Proyecto Pastoral, Homeboy Industries, National Compadres Network, veteran arts organization, Self Help Graphics & Art, official state agencies including the LA County Office of Violence Prevention, LA County Youth Development Department, and Pepperdine University, and multiple UC and Cal State University campuses.
