DEI

MdM authentically embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by working closely with historically marginalized communities in greater East Los Angeles, including minorities, LGBTQIA, and Indigenous peoples. Our leadership and staff are from this marginalized and underserved community. Our service area includes Los Angeles ZIP codes 90022, 90033, and 90063 all high-need areas, predominantly made up of low-income, migrant, and differently-abled individuals. These populations, often overlooked by traditional systems, are at the heart of our work.

MdM has been dedicated to ensuring that women, especially Latina Indigenous and queer women, not only survive but thrive. We increase access, power, and knowledge for under-resourced communities through programs that provide safe and brave spaces for healing and empowerment. We are committed to being responsive, reflective, and flexible to all women’s health needs.

Our commitment is deeply reflected in our mission and our work to offer opportunities for engagement and accommodations for all individuals. We prioritize creating an inclusive environment by ensuring our programming is accessible to people with disabilities, offering inclusive language and support for non-English speakers, and tailoring our approaches to the needs of Indigenous and queercommunities. We ensure that all staff, advisors, volunteers, and partners are reflective of the communities we serve, with a focus on hiring individuals who share lived experiences and reflect the populations we support.

We strive to challenge the systemic inequities that impact these communities and work towards a future where every woman has equal access to opportunities for growth, healing, and empowerment.
