Statement of Solidarity and Support
Mujeres de Maiz shares in the collective and deep sadness due to Los Angeles fires and further devastation currently escalating in different parts of Los Angeles County. We send prayers for all those directly affected and those that are affected differently because of relationships and the line of work many of you lead.
Various Mujeres de Maiz members such as artists and sisters have been affected by this tragedy. We send our heartfelt prayers and love to you all.
As an organization our focus is to improve women’s overall and mental health by creating empowering community spaces focused on culturally based holistic wellness and arts, this moment calls for our leadership, spiritual vision, and justice healing efforts and we are called to strategize how we can best support those in need and build leadership during these transformative times.
In light of the situation, our monthly full moon circle will move to an online/virtual gathering. Our circle which aims to provide a brave and healing space will start with our usual talking circle and also hold space to brainstorm and have a resource strategy session led by one of our core members.
Many of us have asked what we can do? How can we help? Some have donated funds, others items, and their homes for others to stay. We all have capacity to support at different levels, Mujeres de Maiz plans to focus on the mental, emotional, and spiritual journey of this tragedy and invites all healers/spiritual coaches/herbalists and energy workers to join in a larger effort to create and support healing and emotional support collectively. This is our call to action as Mujeres De Maiz to hold arms and embrace our strengths and ancestral wisdom to lead and help our communities in the four directions. Please fill out the form if you would like to support and organize with us.
We will continue to support our loved ones who have lost homes, or were directly affected and evacuated with monetary and needed donations and continue to post those types of support systems as well. Our thoughts are also focused on the immediate and long term stress on the body, mind and spirit. Join us if you are called to.
Thank you and prayers of healing and protection to all.
In Community and Sisterhood,
Mujeres de Maiz
